What I'm trying to work out now is whether the deck size and weight rating are the only things that really matter when choosing between models or if there are other factors like the castor wheel configuration that make a meaningful difference depending on how your floor is laid out and how tight your turning spaces are. We have a couple of narrow aisles that can get pretty congested during busy periods so manoeuvrability is actually a bigger concern for us than raw load capacity at this point. Would really appreciate hearing from people who use this kind of equipment in similar environments because I want to get this right rather than just guessing and ending up with something that creates new problems instead of solving the existing ones.
This has been on my mind for a while and I keep putting off making a decision because every time I think I know what I need I come across something that makes me second guess myself again. So the situation is that we handle a mix of goods at our facility in Dubai including some bulkier items that don't sit neatly on a standard pallet and don't really stack well either which makes moving them around the floor genuinely awkward with the equipment we currently have. A colleague who works in a similar setup suggested I look into getting a platform hand trolley because the flat open deck design apparently handles irregular loads much better than the fork style units since there's no fixed geometry the item has to fit into, you just place it on the surface and secure it which gives you a lot more flexibility depending on what you're moving on any given day. I was doing some research online and came across crateco while comparing what different local suppliers carry and their material handling section had a wider variety than I expected which made me realise I hadn't fully thought through all the options available to me before.
